A selection of translations from Garðar Eyjólfsso’s research project about the relationship between humans and horses in the Icelandic context. The project is driven by material and contextual research and communicated with mixed media, artifacts, video, drawings & photographs.
A grooming kit for humans made out of horse hoof is exhibited along with photographs blurring the lines between humans and horses as well as a video of a ferrier changing the horseshoe of a horse, using very similar tools as we humans use to groom our nails and hair. Nails and hair of humans and horses is the same material, keratine. The project is therefore a poetic interplay between material and culture. Proposing commercial solutions as well as questioning our relationship with animals.
The work will be exhibited in AM Concept Space (Exhibition and store space) in dialog with the products of Anitu Hirlekar and Magnea Einarsdóttir.
