The spatial qualities of awkwardness examined through the medium of fashion.
This exhibition will showcase works from a masters thesis in fashion design from designer Helga Lára who graduated from The Swedish School of Textiles in the spring. The aim of this thesis was to analyse the spatial qualities of awkwardness. This eventually evolved into a fixation on the three planes within a corner of a room, representing the safe haven for an awkward individual. The corner has proved to function as the ultimate tool in creating a sculpture with the integrated body.
After graduating the designer has continued to work within the theme of the thesis in order to explore her practice further. The exhibition will focus on exhibiting both final examples from the thesis as well as raw experiments from early on in the design process.
