BELLY BOWL is made in cooperation by Helga Hrönn Þorleifsdóttir and Ingibjörg Ósk Þorvaldsdóttir. They work in black clay, inspired by Icelandic nature and weather. The bowls are made in two sizes, suitable for appetizer, main course or dessert.
Helga and Ingibjörg share a workshop in Íshús Hafnarfjarðar and have been working in partnership over the years with some ideas. This year they decided to participate together for the first time in DesignMarch. Their logo is HIT meaning a.o. belly, big bowl and glutton, but they are both fascinated with food, cooking and celebration. Therefore it was an easy decision designing and producing pottery tableware, also in preparation is dish set, platters and more.
BELLY BOWL. It’s rough, it’s cool, it’s black but sometimes white or somewhere in between. It’s hard but also soft and warm, surprising you constantly but still you know it so well. Dancing like the wind, flurries in between, black fog on a black sand or a quiet night in the spring with mystery. The texture and appearance reminds you of Icelandic weather and nature. It’s tableware that fits with beautiful food.
