Flétta and Ýrúrarí will open a pizza place during DesignMarch this years where guests can order freshly felted wool pizzas made of leftovers from the Icelandic wool industry.
The scene of the performance is built around an electrical felting machine that plays the role of a pizza oven while the designers work as pizza makers. The setup will be placed in surroundings where the materials and process is clearly visible. Guests will be able to participate by ordering a pizza from the menu, or select toppings to customize the order to their own taste and bring home a one of a kind wool pizza.
Ýrúrarí is known for her playful approach to recycling with her uniquely mended recycled sweaters. Since she started working as a textile designer ten years ago she has participated in exhibitions around the world.
Flétta is made up of product designers Birta Rós Brynjólfsdóttir and Hrefna Sigurðardóttir which have been working together since 2014. Their practice revolves around responsible design, utilizing reused materials and local production.
